About our church

Our History

Our History

Our History

In 1984, three sisters in Christ—Angélique Musuamba, Clémentine Esale, and Eugénie Satu—began meeting for prayer in Bandalungwa, stemming from their charismatic prayer group at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Their small gatherings on Avenue Mangembo 5032 soon attracted others from the neighborhood, evolving into a larger prayer group. Through regular preaching on Tuesdays and fasting and prayer on Fridays, the group grew both numerically and spiritually, becoming a church around 1994.

Today, the small cell initiated by the three sisters has become a significant megachurch in Kinshasa, with nearly 1,000 members. Under the leadership of Rev. Esperance Mbakadi, it has expanded beyond its birthplace to several provinces in the DRC, as well as to Africa, Europe, Canada and the United States. The church has a statement of faith, a clear vision, a stable structure, and legal recognition.

Mangembo Church Atlanta, an extension of Mangembo Church Kinshasa, was planted by Rev. JP Tshinkulu in 2013. He led while also serving as superintendent over the district of America, establishing a leadership team with brothers Didier Shindani, Didier Kassanda, and Jean Faustin Lokula. On July 2nd, Dr. Joachim Mbela was appointed as the new pastor, and since January 1st, the church has moved to its new location in Lawrenceville.

Our Vision

Our History

Our History

Our church's vision is based on Matthew 9:17: “The season of new wine and new wineskins.” Traditionally, a wineskin is a container made from sheep's skin, used to store wine. Fresh wineskins can withstand the pressure of new wine, while old wineskins burst under this pressure.

A born-again Christian, renewed by the word of God and freed from the old self, is like a new wineskin. In our vision, new wine represents all blessings, elevation, greatness, and grace from God. New wine needs new wineskins—people of integrity, consecrated and renewed in their minds—who can receive these blessings without breaking. These individuals become sources of blessing for many.
